Since Babylon has SURVIVED,

will it be Babylon REBUILT ?, or Babylon REVIVED ?,

...or both?

Part 2 to "The OVERNIGHT Reemergence of Babylon the "GREAT CITY"

BABYLON Has Been REBUILDING For CENTURIES

 2. Babylon has been rebuilding, inconspicuously, and unnoticed, for centuries.
Beginning in the midst of Babylon's ruins, the Literal Stones of Babylon have for 1000 years been recycled and redistributed to expand and build up the city of Hillah —essentially Rebuilding Babylon.

5. Hillah began as a second Babylon-Stone city, and then the principal one, absorbing Al-Jamayin at the edge of the Babylon ruins, but in the midst of un-excavated Babylon (85%) then expanding as 'Rebuilt-Babylon', through the unlimited, perpetual supply of Babylon's ancient, high-quality Stones.

Stones from the Tower Of Babel--the ziggurat "Etemenanki"--Expand the Iraqi City of Babylon

RIGHT: The remarkable story of this 1977 photograph--it was taken at the site most often-acknowledged  as the Tower Of Babel, squarely within the parameters of Babylon's Official Archeological Site.

This Photograph, in a Single take, is LOADED with information!

Note the highlighted area labeled "TOWER of BABEL". This is the ziggurat-base known as "Etemenanki".

It is surrounded by vegetation and water. (also highlighted)

In this, Part 2 of our Series on The Reemergence Of Babylon--The Great City, we examine the evidence that the rebuilding of Babylon has been occurring slowly, inconspicuously, almost imperceptibly for the last 1000 years by the recycling and redistribution of Babylon's ORIGINAL, high-quality building Stones ("bricks"). This has resulted in the outgrowth of the Babylon-Stones-City of Hillah-- essentially, the Extension-City Of Babylon.

TOWER OF BABEL STELE ETEMENANKI, by Randall Price

"One of the [monuments Nebuchadnezzar] reconstructed was Etemenanki, a 300-foot-high ziggurat-temple dedicated to the god Marduk. The stele's inscription describes a related boast, "I made it the wonder of the people of the world. I raised its top to the heavens, made doors for the gates, and I covered it with bitumen and bricks." This language is reminiscent of that in the Genesis text that describes the boast of the builders of the tower of Babel; 'let us build...a tower that reaches to the heavens' (v.4). The scholars who published the Tower of Babel stele argue that Nebuchadnezzar II restored the original tower of Babel and repeated the original boast in his inscription."

Randall Price, with H. Wayne House, The Handbook of Biblical Archaeology, Zondervan Publishing, 2017, p. 72.

"Etemenanki [is] a Sumerian word meaning 'House of the Foundation of         Heaven on Earth'. The Etemenanki is a strong-candidate for being the         original of the Tower of Babel.”

Anton Gill, The Rise And Fall Of Babylon, Metro Books, New York, 2008, p. 113.

J. Paul Tanner writes, "[Babylon] was mined for construction materials to reuse in other structures at various points in time. Al-Hillah was built using baked bricks from the site ...The areas of the Southern Palace and ziggurat [Etemenanki] were considerably diminished, as both contained quantities of baked bricks and are located near the river for easy transport.

From the Ishtar Gate the Processional Way ran to the southern corner of Etemenanki (wherein stood the famous Babylonian Tower)... The complexes of Esagila and Etemenanki formed the heart of the ancient city of Babylon..  the temple precinct Etemenanki, which housed the remains of the fabled Babylonian tower."

The Size of Etemenanki, the Tower of Babel

From the Management Plan of Babylon we read,

"Etemenanki (‘foundation platform of heaven and earth’) was one of the largest ziggurats in ancient Mesopotamia. It is cited in ancient Greek accounts as the Temple of Belus, and in the Bible as the Tower of Babel. Its imposing footprint (91 metres by 91 meters [about 100 yards; RIGHT--Photo #3, football field overlay]) is recorded in Babylonian texts and has been confirmed archaeologically. At a height of around 91 meters [again, the length of a football field, this time up to the heavens], the ziggurat towered over the city and surrounding plains.

...these bricks were systematically extracted and recycled for new         construction over centuries...Throughout subsequent centuries it         was mined for reusable brick..."

A Closer Look at Etemenanki

RIGHT: Note 3 things; 1) The deep trenches, 2) the ample water, and 3) the trees and vegetation.

The water and vegetation (seen also in the two photos above) violate the following prophecy IF Babylon has already been once-and-for-all destroyed:

"But you will be desolate forever ...A parched land and a desert.."

                                                                                Jeremiah 51:26, 43

The truth is, of course, the water and the vegetation are proof that the Final Destruction of Babylon is a PROPHECY-IN-WAITING.

But the TRENCHES are the point of this 'Part-2' article on "BABYLON HAS BEEN REBUILDING FOR CENTURIES".

What is the cause of these deep trenches? (Photo #4 at right)

The great Babylon-archaeologist Robert Koldewey showed that the Stones of the Etemenanki-Tower of Babel have served as recycled Babylon "bricks".

"What is to be seen [at the Etemenanki "Tower Of Babel"] at the present time--low banks round the deep trenches--is merely the result of modern digging by Arab brick robbers."

Robert Koldewey, The Excavations At Babylon, translated by Agnes S. Johns, MacMillan and Co., Limited, St. Martin's Street, London, 1914, p.309.

"Ironically, little of the structure survives partly due to the high-quality baked bricks... used. As elsewhere, these bricks were systematically extracted and recycled for new construction over centuries."

Republic Of Iraq, Babylon, Nomination Dossier, for Inscription of the Property on the World Heritage List, Description of the property,  "Etemenanki, the Ziggurat of Babylon", Jan 2018.

It is a heavily documented fact that these "bricks (stones of Babylon)" have been the primary source of the physical origination and build-up of the city of Hillah. (more below)

ABOVE: Stones-bricks removed and reused to build Hillah, expanding Babylon as the Babylon-Stones-City of Hillah built outward.

RIGHT: Actual World War 1 era British photograph of Babylon's archaeological site , superimposed on a Euphrates background photo of the same era.  We will use this

background in the photo-graphics below to simulate the sequential growth of Hillah. It can readily be seen that Hillah is essentially Babylon-Extended through Babylon Stones.

There are three directional-ways to build a city:

        1. Vertically (Babylon could be rebuilt into a Skyscraper-City)

See, for example, a vertical buildup of Babylon-Stones (bricks) to the right, and the resultant Skyscraper-city in Photo #7.

        2. Horizontally (Babylon could be rebuilt into a Low-Rise City)

See, for example, a horizontal distribution of Babylon-Stones (bricks) below in Photo #8, and the resultant widening of Hillah's boundaries over time in the following Photos #9-14.

        3. or Both

Hillah was built the second way, building out Horizontally in all directions, but primarily southeast and southwest from its source-- Babylon.

PHOTO #6

A Vertical Rebuilding of Babylon?

Will Babylon be raised up as a giant, super-large Skyscraper-City?

This is assumed in almost every view that Babylon will be rebuilt from the ruins of original Babylon in Iraq. This assumption relies on the repeated phrase, "the Great City", in Revelation 18.

But that's not what is required by Bible Prophecy for future fulfillment , and that is not what is happening today. Babylon has ever so slowly been extended, over many centuries, HORIZONTALLY!

There IS a buildup of Babylon going on today, and for the past 1000 years. But what makes it, for the most part, inconspicuous, unnoticed, and therefore "out-of-mind", is its "growth-creep" for a millennium!

Babylon-Stones founded and built Hillah, outgrowth city of Babylon.

Rather than Babylon simply being a tourist-attraction of Hillah,

Hillah is the extension of Babylon.

10. The Babylon-Stones City extends itself across the Euphrates valley.

"For hundreds of years people living on the banks of the River Euphrates in Iraq had dug into the mounds of ancient Babylon for the hard baked bricks used in the old buildings. Most of the villages along that part of the river, and the town of Hillah, were largely built with Babylonian bricks. Yet, although the ruins were pillaged in this way, the city was so great that much remained...This great mass of mud-brick had been a rich quarry for the local brick-hunters."
Alan Millard, Treasures From Bible Times, 1985, Lion Publishing, Belleville, MI, p. 135, 137

11. Hillah is the true--literally to the stone--Extended-City of Babylon
" ...many towns and cites have been built from the ruins of Babylon... Hillah was entirely constructed from the debris, and even in the houses of Bagdad, Babylonian stamped bricks may be frequently noticed."

Babylon in some ways has followed much the same pattern with its outward growth, beginning at its core in the archaeological-site of ancient Babylon with the birth of Hillah, followed by its gradual spread, utilizing the actual Stones of Babylon, and continuing its rebuild way beyond Babylon's remnant "walls".

Now, continue in the photo below with the Horizontal spread of Jerusalem beyond its walls...

TODAY

Jerusalem has expanded beyond its walls (Zechariah 2.4)

                                                                    —But it is still Jerusalem.

Like the Old Walled City of Jerusalem (East Jerusalem), Babylon             has expanded beyond its fallen, ruined-walls. The correlation is             that both cities, besides being the two prime rival cities of the             Bible (God's City vs Satan's City), are extended, expanded,             rebuilt, low-rise cities.

TODAY

Babylon has expanded beyond its walls (Babylon-Stone City of Hillah, the capital of the 'Babil Province', Iraq)

Since Babylon has SURVIVED,

will it be Babylon REBUILT ?, or Babylon REVIVED ?,

...or both?

The Roman Empire will not be "Rebuilt", but rather it will be the Roman Empire "Revived" that fulfills the prophecies of Daniel 2 & 7.

With Babylon it seems to be both a Rebuilt & a Revived Babylon that fulfills the prophecies of Jeremiah & Revelation. Since Babylon has been inconspicuously rebuilding for 1,000 years, the city is now in a position to be REVIVED OVERNIGHT into the "Great City" of Rev 18.

Babylon has been Rebuilt PHYSICALLY!

Babylon now awaits the revival of her age-old "spirit" as the "Mother of Harlots."  (Revelation 17:5)

This MUST HAPPEN to Animate PHYSICAL Babylon prophetically.

That is, all of the false religions that divided out of her at the Tower of Babel from the dawn of history must return to their "mother-ship"-- Babylon,  the Mother of Harlots. Any thing less than this is not Biblical Babylon, but a Replacement Babylon.

However, the Bible prophecies identify--not just Babylon--but Babylon of Chaldea. The Mother of Harlots will rewind the historical tape back to the Tower of Babel, to Babylon of Chaldea, to Mesopotamia, Sumer, Shinar, to Babylonia, to Sheshak, and entice back to her satanic-bosom all the world's "daughter-harlots". This parade of false religions will RE-unite in the physical City of Babylon, as a global-union of "harlots" (Rev. 17:15), and fulfill the "Mystery" of Babylon, the Mother Of Harlots.

But for Babylon of Chaldea to ascend to the status of "Great City", still more is required.

That is the subject of Part 3--

"Must Babylon be a SUPER-LARGE CITY" ?...HERE

"Whatever may prove to be the exact sequence of events, Babylon will surely be rebuilt."
Henry Morris, The Revelation Record, Tyndale House Publishers, Wheaton, IL, 1983, p.323, 349

1. The OVERNIGHT RISE Of The GREAT CITY

                                        COMPLETE SUMMARY STATEMENTS

SUMMARY STATEMENT OF This Entire Series

( Summary of the 7 Propositions listed below, each of which encapsulates a subject of this 7-Part series )

Babylon of Chaldea has Survived, slowly rebuilding for a thousand years, awaiting its destiny as

the Throneroom of the Antichrist, the City Chosen by HIM to enforce HIS Authority and HIS Ownership

of the Global Sovereignty, Wealth, and Trade ceded "Overnight" to HIM by the Nations;

Babylon awaits its destiny as "the Great City"—perishing with its Final Fall at the Return of Christ.

(Jeremiah 50-51; Revelation 17-18)

(The "Great" in the "Great City" is the result of its status as the base-city

for the "Great Authority" of its chief occupant, the Antichrist)

Below are 7 Summary Statements concluded from the Biblical, archaeological and historical evidence presented in this series. Each of the 7 statements corresponds respectively to the 7 Parts of this series, where we will present the evidence that,

        1. Babylon of Chaldea (Iraq) has Survived to fulfill its prophesied date with destiny.
Photographs of Conditions said to be impossible after Babylon's Final Destruction prove Babylon has Survived.

        2. Babylon has been rebuilding, inconspicuously, and unnoticed, for centuries.
Beginning in the midst of Babylon's ruins, the Literal Stones of Babylon have for 1000 years been recycled and redistributed to expand and build up the city of Hillah --essentially Rebuilding Babylon.

        3. Revelation's title "Babylon the Great City" does not require Babylon to be a Super-Large city.
Babylon is "Great"--not because of Great Size--but because of its Great Authority derived from its status as the throne-room City of the Antichrist.

        4. The description "the Wealthy City" does not require Babylon to be a city of long-standing wealth.
Babylon becomes the global icon of extreme Wealth, not from Old-wealth, but from Overnight Wealth, bequeathed and bestowed by the Nations.

        5. Babylon "the Great" does not require Babylon to be a massive Seaport City.
Babylon is not itself a Giant Seaport City, but it Controls Global Seaports from a distance across continents and seas.

        6. Babylon of Chaldea has not been "Replaced" any more than Israel of Mt. Zion has been Replaced.
Babylon has a Biblical-Chaldean GPS Identification of 32.32º x 44.25º which excludes any other city as a Replacement Babylon.

        7. Babylon, Iraq, has a prophetic-time appointment that parallels that of Israel.
Babylon of Chaldea has a Date With Destiny prophetically scheduled to coincide with the New Covenant Salvation of Israel at the End Time. (Jer 5-:1-5

If the evidence sustains these 7 points, where is the need for a metaphorical Replacement to the plain, common sense, literal understanding of the word "Babylon"?

1. "The origins of the city [Hillah] lie in reuse of Babylonian building material, mainly the abundance of fired mud brick found on site."

The GOSPEL in Revelation:

The 5th verse from the beginning,

Jesus Christ...To Him who loves us, and released us from our sins by His blood, (Revelation 1:5

The 5th verse from the end,

"... And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost." (Revelation 22:17

The Book Of Revelation, apocalyptic and foreboding, is actually "FRAMED" by the GOSPEL OF SALVATION in Jesus Christ. Here's how you can be saved...
